From October 30 to November the 3d-year students of the French philology department carried out their projects in the framework of Module 4 "National and European Identity" (Identité nationale et européenne).

According to the project program a lecture on the subject was held by the members of the project work group. After the introduction of the topic the students started working on their projects on the following topics:

  1. National and European identity in EU member states (Identité nationale et identité européenne dans les Etats-membres de l’UE).
    The project was carried out by the 3rd year student (Translation and Translation Studies) Lyubov Shchekina. In her speech, she highlighted the main definitions of identity, the differences between European identity and national identity, as well as obstacles to the formation of European identity in EU member states.

  2. Is language an integral element of identity? (Langue, élément indispensable de l’identité?).
    Veronika Zakaryan worked on this topic (Translation and Translation). In her presentation, the 3rd year student analyzed the role of the language as an element of identity using the example of French and the international organization Francophonie, considered the principles of multilingualism underlying the functioning of the EU.

  3. Euroscepticism and separatism in Europe (Euroscepticisme et mouvements indépendantistes en Europe).
    This topic was covered by the 3rd year student (Translation and Translation Studies) Valeria Chernuskikh. She analyzed the origins and types of Euroscepticism in Europe, as well as researchers’ forecasts regarding the development of separatist movements in Europe.
